I hated the smell of food.

All my thoughts about being pregnant were not true—well at least most of them and one of which is getting all the pregnancy cravings.

In some cases, there are women who eat less because of lack of appetite.

I had terrible food aversion and I hated the smell of food. I didn’t like my usual favorites and I wasn’t craving for anything. However, I decided that despite this I had to try to feed the baby well.

My diet mostly consisted of Salad Cups from GoSalads, Fruits and lots of protein. At some point in your pregnancy, the baby will start tasting the food you’re eating and according to research, if the baby knows the taste of the food (i.e. fruits and veggies) it is most likely that they will appreciate  it when they can eat on their own! That’s a quick cheat for all the mommies who plan to make their children eat more healthy food! So, if you are a mommy to be, it would be better to binge on these healthy alternatives that will help your baby grow faster and stronger!

My total weight gain just before giving birth to our little Zach was just 13 lbs. and that already included Zach who weighed around 6.3 lbs. plus my placenta, amniotic sac, amniotic fluid etc etc. Take note that our little angel was also tall! His height was a little bit more than the usual height of a newborn baby (I think my pregnancy diet really worked)! With just packing 13 lbs. for 9 months, for post partum I just weighed around 94 lbs after around 2 weeks. Imagine I lost all the weight I have been dying to lose in the gym in just 2 weeks.

To all soon to be mommies out there, you really have to be careful with your diet and take note that you are NOT eating for two. You just need to add a little bit more calories for the baby but that doesn’t mean you have to indulge and binge the whole time. I swear your body would thank you if you won’t pack those unnecessary weight. ;)

The day I threw up I knew I was pregnant

MORNING SICKNESS

...Is the best way to find out that you are in fact pregnant. Kidding. But seriously though, I actually found out that I was (possibly) pregnant because of getting dizzy all day (not only in the morning!) and throwing up (A LOT!).

When I started getting this symptom, I told my husband that I was getting sick all day and I was badly throwing up even in the middle of the road. Then, we found ourselves getting a pregnancy test kit and then we confirmed that we were actually pregnant! The day I found out, I was crying so hard because I wasn't really sure if I can do it already. I also thank God that he gave me the best husband and life partner who was extremely supportive every step of the way.

I experienced extreme morning sickness up until around my 4th month of pregnancy. I lost a lot of weight during the first trimester because my body was coping up really bad. But, to make sure that the baby gets enough nutrients I made sure I was eating healthy.

Getting the big news is really a blessing but sometimes it comes with other emotions as well. Just trust God and everything will surely fall into place ;)

Quick Facts:
  • We found out that we were pregnant when the baby was already at 8 weeks...
  • Because I had a bit of bleeding (that I thought was just my regular period) on the week that I was expecting my cycle.
  • I weighed 108 lbs. on my 8th week of pregnancy
  • Ended up around 102 lbs. after the 3rd month due to throwing up
  • I didn't have food cravings rather I had food aversions (which I will take up in my next post!)

Til' Next Time! Have a great Sunday!

Entering the Mommy World

Hey there!

I am Vanya Peralta-Tantoco (recently and happily married), taking on the quarter life that I never imagined I would have!

I got pregnant December 2014 and gave birth to our little love who soon became an angel early September 2015. Technically I am still a pseudo-mommy to be with an angel flying beside me. I studied Communication Arts and graduated with flying colors-- now I am busy with event production, styling and being a legal assistant (soon-to-be law student).

I decided to share my experiences in being pregnant, fit and a working mommah at the same time! I want to share this with young moms and mom-to-be's to know that they're not alone in this journey.

I am looking forward to meeting everyone soon and share our little tips and secrets on being a wife and a mom! xoxo
